a friend of the family was a rock journalist in the 80s who swears that Garcia turned to the rest of the band and said " this is the most fucked up I've ever been on stage" before launching into this version of Terrapin...

Just a few more thoughts on dope on the road and members of the Dead being addicted. If my other post went through then I don't have to explain how one needs it.But why in the music industry all the way from the blues/jazz dudes to the people we are familiar with. Some say the rigors of the road takes a toll on ones body and phyce.Well if your a professional musician this is the profession you chose and clearly not forced into it.Let them try coal mining, roofing or a million other tough jobs out there. I don't but it.I just think it's a choice of wheather one wants or needs to get high. What is so terrible about driven to a hotel, aiport, food, lodging provided for you.You do your sound check break, 2/3 hr gig and go the hotel decompress and.Start again the next day.As you see I have no sympathy for the rigors of the road rap.

no secret that the man did heroin?

some of the best terrapins were played while under the influence? shit, some of the best shows were played on heroin.

It's not a high horse. But if you don't understand how that kind of thinking gets carried forward then I guess it answers my question.

AW : I Sort of see where you are coming from, but musically, the results of an artists chemical intake can influence the music . And sometimes the results are interesting . And yes sometimes it is the spectacle of a train wreck .
Dylan's magnificent 66 tour shows some of this . I will make a separate post .

I have no idea when and how high or involved w/ the Persh Jerry was. He was a full blown coke/ crack and China white addict and there is not one person who can deney or debate this.He died in rehab after all.Now unfortunately I have intamate knowledge of what that little glasine bag can do to both a person and a neighborhood. At 1st it's the best feeling in the world , then after about 2-3 weeks it's got you and every fucking cell in your body is screaming for a fix. There is no way anyone sick on dope could do anything and be accomplished muscian on it.Yes,he must have spent a fortune on it and because he was such a prolific player he always had to have some no matter what to gig. This is one horrible life. Clapton was lucky to get out when he did others not so much.It took me to move from my town leave everything and all the bad scenes behind and start fresh. The ride across country was the best therapy one could get for free.Very vicious stuff.

Most experts would go with Lincoln due to proximity but Kennedy really was messy. Still, I'm going with McKinley which conspiracy theorists believe was nastier than initially reported but never gets its due because no one gave half a crap.

At this point is it necessary for me to say this isn't at all funny and I should be ashamed of myself? Yes, I should think so.

Point is that your point is well taken, SDH.

Just happy to be pointy.

Also, if we want to include attempted assassinations I guess James Brady might be thrown in there. Altough I don't think that was too messy due to the small caliber and the proximity.

OK, I've got a fast train to Hades with my name on it.

I'm with you. Yes, they need to win Game 2 tomorrow night, but as much as the 3OT loss sucked and as much as Daugavins had me cowering to flashbacks of Glen Fucking Wesely in 1990, I do believe this team is different and can and will overcome this.

Bruins in 6--and again, I'm predicting Jagr to get his one and only goal of the 2013 playoffs in OT to win the Cup for the Bruins. You heard it here first!

Go Bruins!!!!

i told my buddy that same thing....he will score when we most need him to....

i gave you my take on Daugavins in earlier thread...not sure it was as easy as it looked...

whats up with Jagr's socks ...the way he covers the back of the skate is quite unique!!

never really noticed that..probably some superstition, as most hockey players are prone to (and me too, I must admit.) I'll say this about the Daugavins chance--it was way tougher than Wesley's opportunity, for which there was NO excuse...Daugavins did have a tougher shot to make, but it was there for the taking, and he'd be the first to admit it.

Claude seems to have the right attitude re: Game 1. Doesn't really matter if you lose in 3OT...a loss is a loss and even tho' they played almost 2 full games of hockey the loss only counts as one. It's how you approached the game and especially how you respond in the next game. Any Bruins fan would happily take a split in the first two games on the road and they still have a chance to achieve that. They win Game 2 tomorrow and I really like their chances.

Bruins in 6.

Checkout this Radiator's version of Knockin' on Heaven's door from 1985 -- Knock Knock Knockin' on the Dragon's door

And while you are there check the That's Alright Mama track

The whole show is pretty darn good
